Approach to residential developments

Delivering residential developments in Ireland comes with a unique set of challenges—from navigating strict planning regulations and increasing sustainability standards to managing escalating costs, skilled labour shortages, and supply chain disruptions. Balancing these factors with affordability and commercial viability can be a complex process.

If residential developments are not economically viable then they won’t get built, high build costs eat into developers profit margins.

So many architects are submitting planning applications for schemes that will never be viable for developers, they are essentially wasting the developers time and money.

At OLS we take a holistic approach to the design process to ensure that we don’t have the situation where revised planning applications are required.

The construction economics need to be ironed out at the earliest stage in the design process in order to protect the developer’s investment and ensure that the scheme that is designed and ultimately granted planning permission is economically viable and therefore is a good investment for the developer.
