Overview

Mews Houses

This project is a mews development located to the rear of an existing terrace of house in Dublin. The rear gardens were essentially like allotments due to the fact that a shared right of way physically separated the rear gardens from the main property.

The development consists of five terraced houses accessed via the right of way. In order to maintain a vertical emphasis to the design timber boxes were introduced and the third floor “indented.” The timber boxes project out over the entrances to emphasise their location and to provide shelter. This over-sailing is repeated to the rear to allow the timber boxes to read as separate components within the overall design.
